So long, Farewell

Monday, April 18, 2011

When I first started to discover vintage clothing, I had no idea how to style it or make it look cool rather than old and outdated. Then, I found Second Skin Blog and couldn't believe her creativity and fun sense of style. She has the greatest finds and knows how to style each piece perfectly. She has decided to close up her shop and stop selling vintage and I am going to miss seeing her wonderful outfits. Check her out, I know you'll love her as much as I do. Be inspired my vintage loving ladies.
Don't you just want everything ?!

Marrakech, Morroco

Friday, April 15, 2011

I recently discovered the wonderful blog Styleabaad and came across this amazing editorial from Harper's Bazaar March 2010 issue. It's shot in Marrakech, Morocco, so the colours and patterns are absolutely stunning. And if you've been following my blog for any amount of time, you'll know how much I love scarves and there are some beautiful scarves here. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am in need of a vacation and these pictures had me ready to pack my bags and hop on a plane to Morocco.
In other news I got an email this week if I wanted to be part of The Huffingtonpost Style: Real Women who wear leopard. Check it out and Vote for me here: Huffingtonpost Style.

Have a great weekend everyone! See you Monday.

What to do with Leather

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Hello friends, I hope that you are all enjoying a wonderful week so far. I recently purchased a beautiful vintage leather skirt, and I want to wear it before the summer starts and before it gets too hot. Since I have been seeing leather skirts around the blogosphere so much over the past few months, I thought I'd draw some inspiration from these very fashionable ladies.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday
Awkward:
~ Dropping off your dry cleaning and getting hit on by an old man who barely speaks English
~ Your grade 8 boyfriend/person you thought you were going to marry, meeting the current love of your life and having a 20 minute long conversation with one another
~ A co-worker telling you that you weigh the same as his left leg...

Awesome:
~ The fact that it's FRIDAY tomorrow, which means ... the weekend!
~ Sunny Spring weather that is hopefully here to stay
~ Paying off a loan and seeing $0.00 owing!

Travel: Dreaming of {India}

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

I have been dreaming of going to India for a while now. My BF's parents have made several trips there over the past 7 years that I have known them, and I wanted desperately to go, but the timing never worked out quite right. I have always been awed by the beautiful beadwork and bright colours that Indian outfits display and the bold jewelry that matches perfectly. I got the privilege of wearing a few outfits over the years and when I attended a family wedding, and it was so much fun! We are getting ready to go to another wedding in a few weeks and I just picked up my very first saree. It is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to show you! Although a blonde haired, blue eyed dutch girl does look a little strange in an indian saree, I don't care. I've realized that as long as you stand tall with confidence in whatever you are wearing, people will notice you first, not the outfit. Here's a few inspiring pictures and some of the outfits I have worn in the past. Take a cue from these beautiful women on how to use colour in your spring wardrobe. Enjoy!
