Celebrity Crush: Zendaya

Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman

There has been some controversy over a comment that Guiliana Rancic made on Fashion Police about Zendaya's drocklocks, and it had me hopping from one Entertainment site to the next.
While Zendaya is known for her role in the Disney show Shake it Up, her red carpet looks have really put her on the Fashion map. This girl can pull of any look!

When she a turned a turtleneck into evening wear.

When she knew a T-shirt could be just as chic as a dress.

When frankly everything about this made you drop to your knees.
When she threw a leather jacket over a glamorous top and skirt combo and said, "Whatevs."
When she mastered classy and fierce at the same time.
And of course, when she showed up to the Oscars like the goddess she is.

About me [Question & Answer]

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Thought I'd share my answers to these questions from Connected to Fashion.

1. If you could be any age for a week, what age would that be?
I would love to be 17 again. Enjoying my last year of high school with my new boyfriend (now my husband), living in the moment.

2. What was the last picture you took with your phone?

The sunset on my run last night.

3. What have you always wanted? Did you ever get it?
I always wanted to get married, and yes, I have now been married for 3 years.

4. Where were you 3 hours ago?
At work... probably eating to keep myself occupied.

5. Best compliment you have received?

Best compliment I received was when someone told me I looked happy.

6. How does your perfect meal look?

Endless lasagna (the crispy pieces!)

7. What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?

Since my cat woke me up, like every morning, my first thought was to lay in bed an extra five minutes to cuddle with her.

8. Would you be willing to eat a bowl with living locusts for €1000?
I am not adventurous, especially when it comes to food, so no amount of money would get me to eat living insects!

9. What question do you hate to answer?

When are you having a baby?

10. What's the last song you've listened?

Whatever was on the radio at work... I never pay attention. But I do remember hearing an old Backstreet Boys song today, thinking back to elementary school when every girl had a crush on Brian. (I liked Kevin)

Building a Capsule Wardrobe

Thursday, January 29, 2015

I've come across several bloggers talking about a capsule wardrobe over the past year, and it's caught my interest. Since moving in the summer, I have been in the habit of sorting through my clothes every few months to see what I don't need. The idea of wearing 30-37 pieces per season definitely sounds like something I could want to do.

I've been reading the book Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider, and it's been putting some things in perspective that I have been challenged by this year so far.

While trying to save, and serve, and keep the house clean, stuff seems to consume my time more than anything else. Think about how much time would be saved tidying the house if you had less stuff!

I've decided to start with my closet, and pair down what I need for each season. Getting rid of those unworn items, and giving them to someone that I know will benefit from them more than me, has been a gratifying feeling. I want to make this year about others, and less about myself. Living with less stuff will hopefully open the doors to new opportunities, more time, and a clear mind.

What are you doing this year to make a change?

The finishing touch

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

I have built up quite a scarf collection over the years and it's the simplest way to add that finishing into a winter outfit. I'm in a rut with my creativity when it comes to dressing in the morning, so I thought I'd gather some inspirational pictures to get me through the rest of the week. Hopefully I will find something to wear tomorrow... Happy Hump Day!

What is your go to accessory to adding that finishing touch to an outfit?

Real Life

A New Year - 2015

I have not posted on here for a while, but seeing as it's January 1st, I thought I'd start off the new year by sharing a bit of what's been happening in real life.

Previously, I wrote [this post], and to be completely honest, it's something that's on my mind every day. I have been thinking about pregnancy more and more over the past few months, and it's something that I'm really struggling with.

Family members are asking if I'm pregnant yet, or joking about when I'm going to get pregnant.
I have people I barely even know asking me when I am going to have a baby! It's a huge decision and I don't think anyone else has the right to dictate when my husband and I decide to have a baby.

On the other hand, I have secret Pinterest boards about nursery decor, maternity fashion, exercising when pregnant, but I don't want anyone to know that it's something I want so desperately right now. I just laugh and pretend it's something we aren't ready for yet. The truth is, I want so badly to be a mama!

I am at a point in my life right now, where my social media feed has become nothing but baby bumps and newborn babies. I've neglected my personal Facebook and Twitter accounts, since I am usually left feeling inadequate. Not to say that I don't care about these beautiful new faces, it's just hard to see a new pregnancy or birth announcement every time I log on.

I have cried myself to sleep a couple of times, wishing I had a sleeping baby in my arms. I try to remind myself that these are the golden years of uninterrupted sleep. I have dreamt about the day that my husband and I bring our little bundle home, proudly introduce them to the world, and love them so much that it hurts. Sometimes, the emotions are too much to hold in any longer, so this is my quiet place where I can share my heart.

I know that my plans are not always His plans, but my prayer is that 2015 will bring a new baby into our lives, and that God will bless us richly with his love and wisdom.

Happy New Year!
