I know it's an unlikely combination, and I'll admit, I'm not quite sold on it myself, but I thought I'd give it a try. So here's to trying new things; Red and brown. What colour combination's are you trying out this fall?

Weekend Getaway: 2-in-1

Monday, September 26, 2011

I spent the weekend at the Red Leaves Marriott resort in Muskoka, and thankfully the rain held off and it turned out to be a gorgeous weekend. The scenery was breathtaking as the leaves have started to turn and we took full advantage of the view from our balcony. More coming on that tomorrow. For now, here's a transitional outfit from hot to cool (the norm during this fall season).

Obsessed

Friday, September 23, 2011

So I know you've seen this striped tank a lot lately, but I am just a little bit obsessed with it. It's so comfy and the black and white works with anything. This is an outfit I wore to work and then shopping in the evening with my sister. The sweater is cozy but not too hot for running around which is perfect for fall.  Go check out Meredith at Yours, Mine & Ours to see how she styled one of the skirts I 'hand-me-downed' to her. Have a great weekend everyone!

Wedding Wednesday: Guest book DIY (Part1)

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

After searching high and low for the right type of scrapbook, I finally found what I was looking for at Deserre's art store. I was wandering around for hours looking at everything trying to decide on a theme for the guest book. I wanted to keep it very simple yet classy so I picked a neutral colour palette of ivory and gold. Here's what I've got so far.

Standard black ringed scrapbook
Gather necessary supplies such as paper and adhesives. Decide on a theme or style to tie into your wedding theme in order to keep everything cohesive.

I decided to use our engagement photos as a way to tie into our wedding. When choosing photos for your guest book, be sure to group like photos together to create a story throughout the book.
Decide on a layout for your photos that is appealing for your guests to look through, but don't forget to leave enough space for them to leave you messages as well.
I decided to add my own paper to the inside front and back covers as a formal way to start and finish off the book.
Measure out the exact size of the book cover and cut and paste thoroughly.

That's all for now since I am taking my time. Sorry but you'll have to check back next week to see the end result. Lastly, cheers to my first outfit of the Fall Challenge.

Fall Outfit challenge

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Many of you may know about the 30x30 challenge by KendiEveryday that I did last winter, and this year I am giving myself a new challenge! Seeing as fall is the time of year that is so tempting to buy a whole new wardrobe full of cozy sweaters and beautiful boots, I thought I'd challenge myself to a shopping free month. I am going to work my way through my closet, one piece and one outfit at a time. I am going to go an entire month wearing a different outfit each day. I know I have pieces that haven't been worn in years, so here's my chance to rework them and create something fresh and new without spending a dime. I hope to get creative and DIY the month away, starting .......now!
Think you can do it? Let me know if you're joining in on the challenge.

Baby Mama

Monday, September 19, 2011

One of my best friends, one of the ones we had this baby shower for, had her baby last week!
All of us girls took a road trip down to see her and her new baby boy Levi this weekend. She is already an amazing mom and I couldn't be happier for her and her husband. We got to hear the entire birthing story, in full detail, and I think it's enough to scare me off for a few years now. I'm happy being an Auntie for a while.

Fall '11 Outfit: Mustard Yellow

Thursday, September 15, 2011

A quick outfit post for you today, and a shout out to my good friend Michelle who got engaged!!! So excited to plan another wedding! Hope you're enjoying these Fall temperatures, I know I am.
*EDIT There were some awkward & awesome's this week that I was meaning to share with you.

AWKWARD:
~ Pulling into a parking space at the mall and looking over at the car beside me only to see some guy carving out the nastiness from under his toenails... with his KEYS! So disgusting. I made eye contact and gave him my look of disapproval.

~ Trying to have a conversation with someone while dancing around, crossing your legs, pasting an unflattering smile on your face while your trying to hold in your pee.
~  Noticing someone has a rip in the back of their pants. Ummm how do you tell someone that there's a rip in their butt without making it obvious that you were looking there in the first place?

AWESOME:
~ One of my best friend's got engaged! (As mentioned above)
~ Marking things off of my "To Do" list!
~ This beautiful Fall weather that is upon us.
~ All the pregnant people in my life, one of them being my sister! Let's count them shall we? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Vest & Pumps: Thrifted

Wedding Wednesday: Invitations

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Things have been pretty smooth sailing in the wedding planning process for us thus far, but as I dig further into it, it's getting harder! After looking through so many websites and saving so much inspiration, I am feeling stuck. In the words of my fiance, "We want to keep it classy", but I also want it to be fun. This brings me to our invitations. The invitation is the first indication to your guests of what they can expect at your wedding, so I want it to be fun, but also keep it classy. It's a tough combination and I need your help. Here's some ideas.

Since I'm totally in love with our engagement photos, this would be such a fun way to incorporate them!
I want to use a monogram throughout the wedding and love these ideas.
I love the tri-fold look and really want to try and have a pocket on the side to hold all the 'extras'.

I do love the artistic approach of using a graphic such as a flower or beautiful lace pattern.
So these are the options, now lend a girl a hand and tell me what you think.
