[Maternity] Style Crush: Steffy Kuncman

I enjoy reading fashion blogs and collecting inspiration, but of course I am restricted with what I can wear right now being 32 weeks pregnant, so I love finding pregnant bloggers who inspire me to still try and be stylish as I continue to grow.

I have been reading Steffy's blog for many years, and it's been so fun to follow along with her pregnancy as she went through each week and how she managed to still dress so cute and stay true to her style.

Steffy is a fashion and lifestyle blogger, living in Long Island, NY. She and her husband share their love for adventure on her blog, Steffy's Pros and Cons, and now with their new baby boy along for the ride the adventure continues.

An interview with Digital Nomad Ansley Sawyer

"It’s all about envisioning what would make you happy, figuring out what makes other people happy, and then following through until you make your own flavor of happy."

Think critically about what you are actually passionate about.

Find people whose work you admire, look at their resume or published works, and see how they spent their time to build to where they are now.

Make a long list of people you can contact. Send 5-10 emails everyday introducing yourself, and why you want to learn about what it is they do. Be selflessly interested in their work — this is your chance to learn, not your chance to plug your blog. Ask for a Skype date so you can establish a personal bond. Everyone is busy, but a surprisingly large number of people will respond if your email is genuine and stops short of being glaringly annoying or repetitive. Ask them about their process or their philosophy or their goals, not about what tech they use.

By making genuine connections with people who happen to be in the right industry, you’ll eventually get advice, connections, and a few ideas for your next steps. Work on a small portfolio of work that you could proudly present in case anyone ever asks. Be humble and accept small tasks as they start to come in. Start holding yourself to the standard that future clients would expect.

If you want to freelance online, start freelancing before you quit your day job. It might take you a while to start dependably earning money, so save at least 6 months’ worth of expenses before cutting off your revenue stream. Stay focused on the industry that you want to work in. It is better for you to not accept part-time jobs while you try to crack your desired niche.

Things are always tough for beginners, and nothing replaces hard work. You are responsible for your own success, and you should always be reaching for more.

Building a Capsule Wardrobe

I've come across several bloggers talking about a capsule wardrobe over the past year, and it's caught my interest. Since moving in the summer, I have been in the habit of sorting through my clothes every few months to see what I don't need. The idea of wearing 30-37 pieces per season definitely sounds like something I ~~could~~ want to do.

I've been reading the book Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider, and it's been putting some things in perspective that I have been challenged by this year so far.

While trying to save, and serve, and keep the house clean, stuff seems to consume my time more than anything else. Think about how much time would be saved tidying the house if you had less stuff!

I've decided to start with my closet, and pair down what I need for each season. Getting rid of those unworn items, and giving them to someone that I know will benefit from them more than me, has been a gratifying feeling. I want to make this year about others, and less about myself. Living with less stuff will hopefully open the doors to new opportunities, more time, and a clear mind.

Style Crush: Sabrina Meijer

For fall I have been going more the route of mixing basics and minimal colour. Sometimes it's nice to play around with neutrals and create a modest look that still makes you feel confident. Sabrina Meijer is the perfect inspiration and has the minimalistic look down to a science.
