Travel: New York City [2]

Monday, June 9, 2014

We only had one full day to explore as much of New York City as possible, so our first stop on Sunday morning was the Empire State Building.

We ran into all sorts of hustlers along the way, offering us steak dinners, someone to hold our hand on the way up to 86th floor... it was quite the morning!

Drinks on the most amazing rooftop bar. Palm trees and a view of the Empire State building.

Travel: New York City sightseeing

Thursday, June 5, 2014

We spent a whirlwind weekend in New York City for my sister-in-laws bachelorette. It was two days of sight-seeing, rooftop sangria's, and EATING!
We arrived to our hotel about 1:00PM, and the first thing we did was eat lunch at the Shake Shack! The line was long and the restaurant was packed, but it was well worth it.

Times Square
The crowds were overwhelming, the billboards so colourful, and the continuous stream of yellow cabs made for an exciting visit to Times Square. Our hotel was located within steps of the square, so we were within walking distance of anything we needed (specifically Starbucks).

Rockefeller Square
I love being a tourist in a city like New York, there is so much to see! I would love to come back during Christmas time and see the square all lit up and of course see the giant Christmas tree.

Walking to Grand Central Station
We took a walk down 5th Ave. to get to Grand Central Terminal, and it was just as you would see in the movies. It's just as grand from the outside as it is the inside. The architecture and surrounding buildings are stunning.

We had the most delicious dinner at STK. If you are in the Midtown area, it's the perfect place to lounge and have a drink with friends.

Instead of overwhelming you with photos, I'll write about the rest of our trip tomorrow.
Stay tuned!

Travel: I'm going to NYC!

Friday, May 16, 2014

In a few weeks, I will be heading to New York City for my sister-in-laws bachelorette! I have wanted to go for years, and now that it's finally here, I have no idea what to bring.
I'm hoping this beautiful Spring weather will continue and I can pack light. Since it's only for the weekend, I'm hoping to bring a lot of double duty items and stick with the basics.

Flight & Travel outfit

Daytrips & Sightseeing
Stick with basics and comfy shoes.
Brunch with the Girls
Add a floral pattern to help cure the hangover.
Night out on the Town
I'm more of a less is more type of girl. I'd say pick either the arms or legs to show off, but not both.

Do you have any tips for what to bring on a whirlwind weekend in New York City? Help me pack!

Simplicity

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Over the past year, I have been seriously reducing my wardrobe down to essentials and have been donating tons of clothes. So long t-shirts and worn out University sweatpants, you will be missed.

Now that we are moving again, I have been sorting through everything with a critical eye.
I want to live a more simple life; less stuff and less worry about the latest trends.
Now that Spring is finally here, I am looking forward to a fresh start.
Cheers to living the simple life.

We're Moving!

Thursday, May 1, 2014

It's been a crazy past few days! We had our 2 year wedding anniversary on Monday, and talked about when we wanted to start having kids, what we wanted to happen before that, etc.
One of our biggest concerns was having a baby while living in our current apartment for various reasons. We decided to look at a house that went up for rent in a nearby area, and thankfully it was in our budget (other houses that have gone up for rent in the past few months were almost double!). Tuesday evening we met with the rental agent and knew that it was perfect for us the minute we walked in! We scrambled to get our paperwork together and met with him the following night to sign the lease.
We just gave our notice to leave our current apartment and are now looking forward to moving into our first house on July 1! I can't believe it all happened so quickly, but we know that God's hand was in this situation and was guiding us the whole way through.

These are just a few photos I took while walking through, hopefully once we get the keys I can take some good before pictures.

LIVING ROOM | DINING ROOM
1 BEDROOM | HALF BATH ON MAIN FLOOR
 KITCHEN
 2 BEDROOMS & 1 BATH UPSTAIRS

So that is our new little abode. We can't wait to get in there and start painting and making it our own. It is very fresh and clean already which is nice, so hopefully we can settle in and feel at home quickly.
I'll update you with my decor ideas for each room in the next couple of weeks, so check back soon!
