LGFW: 3 - Pink Tartan Show

Thursday, March 31, 2011

So, this was my outfit for Day 2 of LGFW and I know it's not dressy at all and looks like I'm just going to the mall, but that's just me. I hate when people try way too hard and then look like they tried too hard. I just wanted to feel comfortable and be able to enjoy the night without worrying about something being out of place or having wickedly sore feet. So this is me, enjoy.
Denim jacket: H&M/ Scarf: Urban Behaviour/ Sheer top: Thrifted/ Boots: Guess
Presenting the most amazing show, Pink Tartan! I can't event pick out what pieces were my favourite because I loved absolutely everything. The colours were beautiful and I'm glad I can continue to love the army green for next fall as well.  There is the perfect mix between harsh military accents and soft flowing fabrics. The silks and heavy wools are so wonderful. I feel so inspired to design again!

LGFW: 2

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Here's the pics from Day 1 of LGFW. Like I mentioned yesterday, I got a last minute invite to the opening night which included a sneak peak of Holt Renfrew's Fall/Winter Collection - Can't Live Without Fashion and shows by Izma and Juma. Since this was my very first time at a real fashion show, I didn't get great pictures. I had to figure out the best angle from where I was sitting and timing so that they weren't blurry. I've also thrown in a few from The Star. Enjoy! I'll have more for you lovely people tomorrow. See you then!

Jeanne Beker opened up the night; I was a little star struck since I always watch her on FT.
Holt Renfrew opened up the night with a few of their top Canadian designers. Smythe was one of my favourites since I love a good cozy sweater and hats with oversized pom pom's on top! It reminded of D&G FW2010. I also really loved Pink Tartan but I will show you her wonderful collection from last night's show tomorrow.

Style Crush: Gillian Zinser

Monday, March 28, 2011

Actress: Gillian Zinser
I haven't shared a recent celeb crush with you in a while so I thought I'd present to you the lovely Gillian Zinser. She is best known for her role on the popular TV show 90210. This 25 year old beauty has a unique sense of style that has her name popping up in magazines everywhere. I love her quirky mix of new and vintage and pattern. She seems to be rather fond of that hat as well, but she can rock it with any outfit, so who cares.
I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest Gillian Zinser wannabe - but who wouldn't want to have that hair, that body, and that style?

Spring '11 Inspiration: Wild Child

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

I have always been a very obedient person, and I love that this trend seems so dangerous and mysterious. It's a fun way to live out your wild side without getting into too much trouble. I can't wait to wear slouchy t-shirts and cut-off shorts, messy hair and tribal necklaces. This trend seems to be popping up more and more and there's no denying it's an easy sell. Comfortable and easy to wear clothing with a bit of an edge that everyone is looking for. I know this look may not fly with the older folks, since they may think you just look like a total slob, but oh well. Grandparents and parents everywhere, shield your eyes from this beautiful disaster!

Outfit: Brights

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

So, my brights outfit didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but considering the temperatures I had to wear pants and a sweater. This was the best I could do without freezing my little tushy off, but I think I found my new favourite colour combination - blue and yellow. I could also complain about the fact that I have a constant headache from the sinus infection that I have presently, or the fact that my next hair dye appointment isn't for another week and I'm in desperate need, or that I need of a vacation and a tan... but we won't get into that. Hope you are all enjoying a lovely week so far, don't let the man (or me) bring you down! Let me know what other Spring trends you are exploring or that you would like me to dig into for ya.

Spring '11 Inspiration: Brights

Monday, March 21, 2011

This is one of the trends that I am the most excited about - BRIGHTS!
Bright colours has always been a Spring/Summer trend, but this year it's hitting the stores in all shapes and forms. Whether it be tops, purses, or even nail polish, brights can be worn in any way and for any age. I am officially stepping out of my comfort zone and this is a great place to start. What's better than a vibrant colour to cheer up a gloomy day? Make sure you check tomorrow to see how I translate this trend into my own wardrobe.

Outfit: 70's

Friday, March 18, 2011

These pictures were taken before this awful flu bug hit me right in the kisser. Presently you can find me in track pants and sporting a heck of a hairdo!
If you checked out my previous post on 70's inspiration, you will know that I am digging crochet! I have been seeing it everywhere and it's the perfect mix between old lady and sexy. It can be done so many ways but considering that it's still technically winter (while taking Spring outfit photos) I had to throw on the long layers for this one. As we move on into the warmer seasons, you may be lucky enough to see more and more skin ... ow ow... who's excited? I thought I'd give these photos a little bit of an aged look and to avoid blinding you with my white as white skin.
Behind the scenes: Since the snow is finally melting, everything is wet and muddy! My feet were soaked and to stay warm, I wore my pants underneath :)
Sunnies: 69 Vintage
Sweater: Forever 21
Belt: Vintage (available in my Etsy shop - 3ThriftyLadies)
Dress: Costa Blanca
