I'm a 'Burn-out'

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

I know these are not the greatest quality photos, but I wanted to share a basic but fun outfit with you all. A burnout tee, high waisted trousers, and some thrifted jewellery is about all you need.

On a cold winter's day

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

I had a mini photo session with my brother-in-law, Derek deBoer, a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful snowy day.
I made this jacket in school a couple years ago but have never really worn it. It's a high-collared, double breasted, 100% wool jacket, 100% handmade by ME. I wanted some new pictures to add to my portfolio so this is just a sneak peak.

Celebrity Crush: Miroslava Duma

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Miroslava Duma is well known in the fashion industry not only for her work as former editor for Harper's Bazaar (Russia), but for her amazing sense of style. She is now a freelance writer for numerous publications such as OK Magazine, Tatler, Glamour (Russian Magazines), and continues to be a huge influence on the fashion world. I always admire what people in the fashion industry wear, but never think I could pull it off. Somehow she makes it so effortlessly glamourous that I just might dare to try some of her looks out myself.
She pretty much started the socks and sandals trend.

I am in love with this flared denim dress! Shows you it's not just for summer.
Matching Missoni jacket and skirt? Can it get any better?
Love this purple scarf with the neutral outfit.
What can you say about a pink leopard print skirt?
Not many people could make it look this good.

Red, leather, high waisted, shorts! Enough said.
I saved the best for last. I absolutely love this outfit! She looks stunning!

Round scarf DIY

Thursday, December 9, 2010

A Little DIY

When I bought this scarf, I had in mind that I wanted to make it into a round scarf (infinity scarf, whatever you want to call them).
So this is just a little DIY I wanted to share with you on how to do it.

All I did was took the two ends (making sure it was not twisted) and sewed them together.
Simple as that!

On a side note: I learned how to knit on a machine in design school, but the knitting machine I have is very old and needs a little TLC before I can use it. So alternatively, I learned how to knit by hand the other day, so maybe I will be able to make my own scarf like this one day!
