Pumpkin picking and a fall outfit

Thursday, November 2, 2017

It's funny how once you have a baby you suddenly feel like each holiday/ season needs to be perfectly documented, so you can remember that time you went to the pumpkin patch and said baby cried the whole time. It's not quite the memory we were hoping to make, but at least we managed to get a few photos between the tears. Maybe she'll come around next year.

Do you have any family traditions you were looking forward to that didn't go to plan?

Pregnancy update: 27 weeks

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

I know I skipped week 26, but I felt awful last week because of this never ending cold and really wasn't up for taking pictures. Things have been pretty steady in the last couple of weeks, so not much to update you on in terms of pregnancy changes. I am in my last week of the second trimester, and offically 6 months pregnant. I can't believe only 3 months to go until we get to meet this little babe!

How far along: 27 weeks
Size of baby: Head of lettuce
Weight gain: 20.2 lbs

What am I wearing: Maternity clothes?
My bank account has suffered in the last couple of weeks as my wardrobe was dwindling down to a mere few outfits that fit. I had to buy a couple more maternity pieces (and it pains me how expensive maternity clothes are), but also found some non-maternity pieces at Value Village that I can use to layer.

How do I feel: Symptoms?
Pregnancy-wise I have been feeling good. My belly is definitely continuing to grow each week and my belly button is slowly disappearing. This morning I was woken up by a Braxton-hick contraction! It was such a crazy feeling and weird to feel how hard my belly was for that quick moment. Unfortunately my efforts to get rid of this cold haven't worked but I am starting to feel better.

Movement: Lots of strong movements that can definitely be felt from outside my belly these days. It still takes me by surprise sometimes when I feel a super hard kick!

Sleep: My sleep has been interrupted by my cold this past week, but baby has been on the same sleep schedule as me, so I haven't been woken up through the night from kicking etc. (yet).

What I am most looking forward to: Getting things set up in the nursery and nesting at home as we prepare for our little babe to arrive.

Outfit details:
V-neck sweater (non-maternity, but a size up): Smart set (thrifted) | Pants: H&M maternity

Thrifted heels and a Sunday church outfit

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

I have been enjoying thrifting a lot lately rather than shopping the regular retail shops, and came across this pair of Joe Fresh heels. I was excited to try them out this Sunday to church, but unfortunately they are a little too snug. So, I will be posting them in my Instagram shop, @thecanadiancloset this week, so keep an eye open if you're interested!

Outfit: Burgundy trending

Monday, January 21, 2013

Yesterday, Danielle and I beared the cold winter winds and took some outfit pics in my backyard. I threw on my (husband's) wooly socks and burgundy turband, and tried to stay warm. We even got some crafting time in to prepare for my upcoming Love-day shoot next weekend with the lovely Stephanie. Looking forward to sharing that with you next week. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Fall '11 Outfit: Mustard Yellow

Thursday, September 15, 2011

A quick outfit post for you today, and a shout out to my good friend Michelle who got engaged!!! So excited to plan another wedding! Hope you're enjoying these Fall temperatures, I know I am.
*EDIT There were some awkward & awesome's this week that I was meaning to share with you.

AWKWARD:
~ Pulling into a parking space at the mall and looking over at the car beside me only to see some guy carving out the nastiness from under his toenails... with his KEYS! So disgusting. I made eye contact and gave him my look of disapproval.

~ Trying to have a conversation with someone while dancing around, crossing your legs, pasting an unflattering smile on your face while your trying to hold in your pee.
~  Noticing someone has a rip in the back of their pants. Ummm how do you tell someone that there's a rip in their butt without making it obvious that you were looking there in the first place?

AWESOME:
~ One of my best friend's got engaged! (As mentioned above)
~ Marking things off of my "To Do" list!
~ This beautiful Fall weather that is upon us.
~ All the pregnant people in my life, one of them being my sister! Let's count them shall we? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Silk & Leather

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Another reason to come down and check out the sale this weekend...
I will be selling this beautiful fuchsia silk blouse and leather skirt, but if you are interested in them they will be up in our Etsy shop after the weekend.

I have been trying to mix and match unlikely pieces and I love how this outfit came together. The multi-layer necklace gives this outfit that extra touch, as well as the leopard print heels that I recently thrifted.

Awkward&Awesome Business Casual

Thursday, April 7, 2011

I have Spring fever but am still waiting for Spring to actually arrive. The temperatures have been fairly mild lately but the mornings are still frosty and hopping into a cold car at 7:15am without proper attire just doesn't appeal to me. So a great alternative to getting all decked out is this wonderful blazer I recently bought at H&M. It's a knit, which means, it's comfortable! I also stumbled upon this amazing pair of flared dress pants from H&M as well. I could have bought so much from their new Spring collections, but I held back and decided to get pieces I will get the most use of right now. It's always fun trying on cute summer dresses and little itty bitty shorts, but I'm going to wait until the weather is a little warmer to start delving into summer clothes.

Since I  always thoroughly enjoy reading Sydney's Awkward & Awesome moments every Thursday over on The Daybook, I decided to share a few of my own A&A moments from the past week.
Awkward:
~ Your boss yelling at someone next to you and trying not to look
~ Seeing someone you know while getting your hair done (having a head full of tinfoil isn't the best way to get reacquainted)
~ Getting a virus on your computer and the IT guy looking through your browser history and seeing a million blogs and fashion searches (oops!)
~ A grown man asking how he can get a part time job at my work so he can work next to me. Seriously? I'm half your age bud!

Awesome:
~ Getting into your car and seeing 18 degrees celsius
~ Putting away your winter boots and pulling out summer wedges
~ Fresh new highlights
~ Throwing on your cozy clothes after a long day

Have an Awkward and Awesome Thursday folks!
