Inspiring

Monday, September 23, 2013

Some food for thought.

“With the realization of ones own potential and self-confidence in ones ability, one can build a better world. According to my own experience, self-confidence is very important. That sort of confidence is not a blind one; it is an awareness of ones own potential. On that basis, human beings can transform themselves by increasing the good qualities and reducing the negative qualities.”- Dalai Lama

Be confident in your talents friends, because God gave them to you so you could share them and make this world a better place. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Current Project: Winery E-session

Monday, September 16, 2013

This weekend I put together an engagement session for Priya & Ryan who will be getting married in May 2014. We were so thankful that the rain held off just in time for us to capture some great shots at the Pilletteri Estates Winery and downtown Niagara-on-the-lake. I can't wait to show you the some of the images but for now, here's the inspiration board for the shoot and a few teasers. Hope you had a great weekend!

Travel Bag: Traveling to India

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Back in 2011, I wrote this post - Dreaming of India.
It's one of those things that was simply a dream, but I am so excited and thankful that I will soon be traveling to India for a few short days on our way to Australia.

While preparing for this trip, I found this really helpful article with some tips for travelling to India.

Delhi to Agra
There are various tour operators that run day trips and overnight trips to Agra, but you can safely travel alone by taking the Shatabdi Express or the Taj Express. The train is the most reliable and fastest way to get to Agra. Trains leave in the early morning from Delhi, arrive in Agra roughly two hours later, and return late in the evening. *It is crucial for foreigners, and especially for foreign female travellers, to buy an AC 3-tier ticket. That is the equivalent of a first-class ticket; it includes a full dinner. You can do all the major sites in Agra in one day, but consider an overnight trip that allows a more relaxing pace.

What time to visit
It's more worth your time to avoid the crowds and visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise. However, if you’re not a morning person, time your visit for sunset and stay as long as you can.
A 30-minute night-viewing ticket of the monument is available five days every month, but instead book a room at one of the several hotels with a view of the Taj Mahal all night long.

Where to shoot
As soon as you enter the gates, several men claiming to have 300+ angles to shoot the building (and you) will appear at your side. Disregard them unless you somehow came without a camera.
Instead, follow the lead of all the photographers; the best shot with you in the picture will likely be from one of the benches right at the entrance of the south gate.
Sunset and sunrise are the most beautiful times of the day, when the natural colours cast a warm glow on the white marble. But you can also get a perfect reflection of the Taj Mahal in the pool if you set your camera on the ground and line it up with the base of the building. For a more unusual shot, ask your tour guide to take you to the back of the Taj, on the far shore of the banks of Yamuna or the Moonlight garden.

Hope these tips were helpful! If you have any tips of your own please leave them in the comments!

Current Project: Weekend redecorating

Friday, September 6, 2013

We have been living in our apartment for about a year and half now, and I am feeling a little antsy about redecorating for fall and winter. I want our home to feel warm and welcoming, but also young and modern.
We have already painted most of the rooms but now it's all about editing to make it all feel like a cohesive space. I'm hoping to pick up a few new things at our family garage sale this weekend, and spend my Sunday at home redecorating! Hopefully I will be able to show you the results on Monday. Have a great weekend!

You know you all had that same thought as some point in your wedding planning! These brides prove that you can be just as glamorous without going all out on an extravagant wedding dress.
