Spring is in the air

Friday, October 28, 2011

Since being at LGFW and seeing a few SS/12 collections AND booking our honeymoon (woot woot), I am thinking ahead to Spring/Summer. I know summer just ended and we still have to endure the entire winter, but it's fun to dream right? I'm looking forward to a romantic Spring with long flowy skirts and soft pastels.

Looks can be deceiving

Monday, October 24, 2011

So I know I said I was going to be more open on this here blog, but some things just aren't meant to be shared... like pink eye. My eye was so puffy and red yesterday and I was still 'contagious' this morning until noon, so I stayed home from work today. I've got this baby on lock down since I can't wear makeup, so here's a chill-out, "sick day" outfit for you.

Taste the rainbow

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I know blogs are supposed to make us happy and give us something fun to look at while we struggle through another day at work. But I have made a conscious decision to be a more REAL blogger, not just pretend that life is all sunshine and rainbows, but discuss real life issues. You can't get to the rainbow unless you weather through the storm, right?

Well today, I feel so sick that I literally feel like I'm going to vomit. And not because I have the flu ('bin, there done that), but because a dear friend of mine is going through some really crappy life stuff and I can't do anything to help. I hate the feeling of helplessness and not having the right words to say. I have known this friend since I was 5, and since going through certain difficulties, she has seperated herself from family and friends that love her. I just don't know what else to do but pray, and I know that since prayer can do amazing things, I'm reaching out to you. So please, if you would just say a short little prayer for those that are caught up in difficult circumstances, I know we could make a difference in their lives.

Thank you.

Wedding Wednesday: The great cake debate

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

I am not a big cake fan, and never envisioned myself having a typical wedding cake. I am more of a tart...fan. But after seeing cakes like these beauties, I am wondering what to do. I still might go with a combination of cupcakes and a small cake. Stayed tuned to see what we decide. Oooh the suspense.

I'm also thinking about something fun like this as a cake topper instead of your typical bride and groom stand. Then, instead of cutting the cake and eating it, we could just feed each other delicious chocolate covered strawberries and I wouldn't have to eat cake!
What about you? Did you have a cake or are you planning to have an alternative?

LGFW: outfit

Since I am not directly involved in the Fashion Industry but read about it daily, I get a little excited to see celebrities such as Jeanne Beker (who was sitting in front of me), Jay Manuel, model Yasmin Warsame, and a few others. I also got a hello from Joe Mimran, designer for Joe Fresh. Here's a few photos and some from my complete outfit from the night.
*It was cold, and I forgot to wear a necklace, so I accessorized with my oversized chunky scarf.

Outfit: Harvest

Friday, October 14, 2011

So for those that are new to my blog, I live on a vegetable farm, hence the big red dumping wagon behind me. Right now we are in the middle of harvest and I love the fresh smell of carrots and onions. Do you ever have it where you smell something and it reminds you of a specific person or place? Well the smell of harvest to me just feels like home. I hope you all enjoy this wonderful Fall weekend! Check out my guest post over at Lilly's Style as well. Peace out home dogs.

Wedding Wednesday: To First look or Not to First Look

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Traditions are changing and modern brides are throwing caution to the wind. One of the trends that is becoming increasingly popular is to have a "First Look" with your husband-to-be before the ceremony. It has been a long time tradition for the groom to see his bride for the first time while she is walking down the aisle, it adds that element of surprise and genuine emotion during the ceremony that will have your guests in tears. However, more and more couples are opting to see each other before hand and have that special moment in private.
I am a pretty private person and also a very emotional one, so I love the idea of a 'first look'. I want my groom to be the first person to see me on our wedding day and spend a quiet moment together before we embark on the most important day of our lives. I am not good with surprises, and seeing as our ceremony is at 4:00PM, I want to spend as much of the day with him as possible!
Here's a few beautiful first look photos to get your heart pumping and those eyes watering.

Outfit: See-quins

Nothing else adds that ounce of fun better than sequins and ruffles, but what makes it even better, it's all thrifted! Three cheer's for cheap dutch people and finding these little gems. Too bad Value Village is getting just as expensive as a retail store. Three boo's for overpriced thrift stores.

Outfit: Matchy-poo + leopard shoes

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

The leaves are changing and the weather is beautiful so why not take advantage of it with bare legs and a comfy tee. Matching lipstick, necklace, and t-shirt with a punch of leopard print = one sassy outfit. Hope everyone had a great long weekend with family and friends.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever.
